My very first mural! Check out the process here.
Every year, a group of nerds get together for Labor Day weekend and, well, nerd out. Video games, board games, cooking and lots of laughs. I was tasked to create a logo and text lock up for the group so they could have a face for their weekend of festivities.
The main game played during this weekend is called DoTA 2 (Defense of The Ancients) in which there are three lanes of play. Two teams defend their base while simultaneously trying to destroy their opponents’. We could’ve easily called it DoTA weekend, but where’s the fun in that? The goal was to create something sleek with a ‘If you know you know’ kind of touch.
The inspiration comes directly from the map used in the game that is displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen. The white arrow represents the team using full force on each lane directed toward the enemy base to achieve victory.
During my time at FastSigns, I had some branding design opportunities; one of them being a Thai fusion restaurant called Rose’s Kitchen. The clients wanted to incorporate their family name, Rose, into their restaurants name. We went through a few sketches and variations before narrowing it down to the final mark shown. Their love for sharing food from around the world with others is something I really admire about them and wanted to bring that feeling into their brand. Click here to check them out and get your grub on!
No-Comply Skate Shop is a local skateboard shop in Austin, Texas. Every year, they host a Deck Design contest where local artists can enter a board design in hopes of being chosen to become the house deck for the year. I had the pleasure of collaborating with Evan Farias, a local designer and illustrator, to create this one of a kind board. We like to call it, The Grail.
Below are other contests entries (t-shirt design and deck contest for 2021)
Valor is a community of some of the most amazing individuals i’ve come to meet. The group is dedicated to their faith and to teaching children and adults to be strong and have courage in themselves. Valor organizes skate meets where they teach children how to skateboard in order for them to learn resilience, strength and positivity. They also host many contests and meets for adults to be apart of a community where they feel welcomed. I was tasked to recreate their branding along with other deliverables such as: their brand identity, t-shirt designs, a skate deck, and a website. A Mobile app is also currently in the works!
